My Tiny NYC Apartment
You have seen pictures of my bathroom renovation, the new floors and the
painted ceiling. Now I finally feel like my living room is looking
good. I would love to eventually place a chair in the corner by the
window. Most of the paintings on my gallery style wall are my own artworks, and a two others come from a book of old American prints. And of course, my husbands beautiful guitar.
This is Zoe.
Mini Library.
This is my little closet office and artists studio. We took the old doors off of the closet and hung floor to ceiling curtains. The upper closet was for storage so I bought rice paper blinds to cover up the mess. I bought this mid century modern looking desk on craigslist which hold all of my art supplies perfectly. This office has changed my life with all of its organization possibilities.
I renovated this kitchen years ago. All it needed was a good scrub and a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Its small, has no dishwasher or freezer (we have under the counter refrigerator drawers), but suits all of my needs.

House in the Mountains
My parents recently bought a home at the base of the San Tan mountains in Arizona. They bought the house without actually seeing it in person, but couldn't resist the pictures they saw of the surrounding area and the views from the home. I completely agree with them. Its breathtaking.
My parents want to use the home as a vacation rental and a Christmas vacation home for the family. They asked me to decorate it with all new furnishings so Josh and I flew down to Arizona for a week and stayed at my Aunt and Uncles home while we shopped more than we have ever shopped in our lives. I had already pre-ordered some furniture online to be shipped to the house, but filling a 2,500 sq/ft home in a week is pretty difficult. We had carpets cleaned, and all of the rooms painted which made a huge difference. I took a few pictures, but Im hoping to take more next time I go visit.

Decorating the Corbaci Home
My sister and her husband just moved into a new, and bigger apartment in Boston and asked me to come for a visit and help them decorate their new home. I jumped on the chance! They just bought a brand new sofa, and beautiful dining room set. They also bought a coffee table off craig's list. Everything else is older furniture they already had, and new things we bought on a huge shopping spree. Let me just preface that I was only there for two full days and that I did as much as I could in those days. There are still many things I could like to add to the space.

Dining Room After:

In the dining room I bought a beautiful silver and gold leafed circle mirror which I flanked with some framed artwork that my sister had been collecting over the years.

Living Room After:
We bought some frames to create a grid with photography to put over the couch, but never had time to finish it before I left.
I decided to use mercury glass throughout the living room to match the modern silver in the dining room table, and all the more traditional style frames that they had collected. I shopped at Marshals and Target.

I tried to mix modern and traditional elements to keep the room looking fresh, yet eclectic and lived in. I did this by using graphic patterns mixed with slightly traditional designs, as well as this sleek white lacquer tray and an antique chess set and doily. My sister is also an avid book lover and collector and we chose some of her favorite and most beautiful books to display on the mantle.
Kitchen:
I cleaned up all the clutter in the kitchen, and rearranged some things, hid other things in cupboards, and hung some decorative as well as useful things on the walls. I found these wonderful chevron striped hand towels at Target. I also found beautiful jute rug at marshals in two sizes one of which is in the kitchen, and the other in the entry way.

A Long Overdue Apaprtment Update
I thought the ceiling was white.... I was wrong. It used to be white, but over the years it turned a very dark grey. Not until my mother and I painted the ceilings white did we notice how badly they needed that new paint job.
And the floors! We had the floors refinished with an oil base finish. They look 100 times better.

My Etsy Site
So, I decided to try and start selling my own artwork. Its a big step for me because I tend to be my worst critic, and I'm very nervous about showing my artwork to others. After showing my artwork in a solo exhibit at Brigham Young University my confidence has grown a little, and I have tried to create more art that follow the style of those first gold leaf paintings so that I can fully develop one style.

Ashe+Leandro
I have started working for a design firm called Ashe+Leandro here in New York. Im their intern, and pretty much the only employee they have. Reinaldo Leandro is an architect and designer, and Ariel Ashe is an Interior designer. They create beautiful spaces in mainly private residences. Im so honored to be working for them they are great artists in their field. I hope to learn a thing or two from them. I mainly hope to learn how to take risks in my design aesthetic and learn to navigate the business. Who knows, maybe this is something I can do on my own someday.
